I trained in positive psychology coaching with the internationally renowned “Mentor Coach” organisation in America, and have completed a number of trainings with Dr Chris Johnstone, who specialises in positive psychology and resilience.

While the coaching sessions may last just a few weeks or months, the tools and strategies you will acquire could last you a lifetime.

My approach to coaching

I apply the techniques of “Co-Active” coaching, which means we create a working relationship based on equality, honesty and trust. I can help you find and develop clarity of focus, stay on course, recover from setbacks, address any weaknesses, develop your strengths and become happier and more content.

Together we will set achievable, measurable targets and a strategy for you to achieve them, one step at a time.

I have particular experience in teaching people a variety of relaxation and meditation techniques, which helps to reduce stress, anxiety and low self-esteem – leading to calmness, confidence and better energy and health.

Because of challenges I have personally faced, I have both empathy and compassion for those facing difficulties. I know that to have an understanding, listening ear is the first step to moving forwards: to be heard, without judgement, allows us to be honest with ourselves – and from that point we can begin the journey of change and growth…

2. Cross-cultural music and sound therapy – beyond talking…

Music and sound have been used for thousands of years for health, healing and spiritual connection.  By combining coaching or counselling with music and sound, it is a gentle way of resolving issues that goes beyond just talking.  The mind and body respond in an intuitive way to sound, and can often lead the way to the root of a problem where talking has not quite ‘hit the nail on the head’.  I often offer home ‘prescriptions’ for people to listen to as this can be a way for the body and/or the mind to recalibrate into a healthier way of being.  Using ancient techniques in the 21st century is a fascinating and beautiful way to work.  I usually weave in meditation, relaxation and silence into these sessions, ensuring it is a gentle and healing process.

I studied “The Therapeutic Use of Cross-cultural Music and Sound” for three years with Pat Moffitt-Cook Phd. of The Open Ear Center, New Mexico, USA, and continue to study with her today.

3. Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Matrix Reimprinting – Energy medicine

Known as a “energy psychology”,  this gentle therapy was developed from Chinese acupressure, kinesiology and psychology.  I have completed both Level 1 and 2 trainings plus Matrix Reimprinting, a new area of development within EFT.  Matrix reimprinting, devised by Karl Dawson, is used to clear blocks relating to any past issue whether that be yesterday or decades ago.  “Rewrite your past – Transform your future” and “Transform your beliefs, transform you life” are two exciting phrases used within this growing healing modality.

What is EFT Tapping?

“EFT means “Emotional Freedom Techniques” and is a powerful self-help method based on research showing that emotional trauma contributes greatly to disease. Clinical trials have shown that EFT tapping is able to rapidly reduce the emotional impact of memories and incidents that trigger emotional distress.  Once the distress is reduced or removed, the body can often rebalance itself, and accelerate healing.

EFT uses elements of Cognitive Therapy and Exposure Therapy, and combines them with Acupressure, in the form of fingertip tapping on 12 acupuncture points. Over 100 papers published in peer-reviewed medical and psychology journals, including dozens of clinical trials, have demonstrated that EFT is effective for phobias, anxiety, depression, posttraumatic stress disorder, pain, and other problems. ”

4. Meditation & Relaxation techniques – key life skills

Never underestimate the power of relaxation!  It is not simply a ‘nice thing to do’, but when you learn to relax, properly, you calm the mind and body, boost your immune system, reduce adrenaline and cortisol in the blood stream, and increase positive chemicals such as dopamine and Seratonin (the Happy chemical!)  It also improves sleep, increases energy, boosts your mood naturally, and supports you to live a life of ease, confidence and comfort.  In the midst of challenges it gives you a much needed self-help tool

I teach individuals and groups Meditation, Good breathing techniques (Yoga breathing, pranayama), & Self-Hypnosis.
