The Sound of Grace Retreat, Dorset

Gentle Yoga, Chant, Music, and Silence…

11th – 13th September 2020

With lockdown easing, we are delighted that this is currently still going ahead (check back here for updates)

You are warmly invited to a deeply relaxing and nourishing women’s retreat, based in a Grade II listed house, within a secluded valley, near Charmouth,  Dorset.
September still holds the warmth of summer, that magical essence of ‘promise’, and the 11 acres of gardens, meadows and woodland
offer the perfect environment to unwind and be still.

Drawing on the wisdom of the Sound of Grace programme, our weekend includes gentle holistic yoga to iron out the aches and pains, the kinks and knots that build up within us all.  Healing chant and mantra to soothe, uplift and inspire; cross-cultural music journeying; creative, expressive movement, song, and laughter…we co-create a safe, healing space where women can remember who they are – and dance again…

This delightful retreat weekend is co-facilitated by myself,  Sarena Mason,Cert. Ed CCMHP and Amanda Bailey M.A. (Dramatherapy) who also co-facilitates the Sound of Grace programme with me.  We work well together – offering a balance of high professional training and experience in our respective fields, along with warmth, holding a safe space – and fun!

Delicious Vegetarian Food

All meals are vegetarian (much is grown on site in the walled kitchen garden) and includes eggs from their chickens, milk from their own cows, and fresh cheeses made on site! All dietary requirements are catered for (Vegan, Gluten free, non-dairy milks etc).

The rooms are simple and comfortable – there is just one single, others vary between doubles, twins, and three or four beds (all nicely spaced out!) Shared bathrooms are close to each room. Many have beautiful views over the gardens or nearby valley and hills. There are wood burning stoves in the Hall, Library, the shared sitting room and our private practise space…

The Pine Room

We have booked this lovely space as our ‘Sound of Grace’ home for the weekend; set away from the main house (but just a short walk) it is as the name suggests, made of pine, with a half-vaulted ceiling (great acoustics!), one side is glass so plenty of light – and a large wood burning stove should we need it. Kitchenette and loo means we are self-sufficient during our times there. Morning yoga, chanting circles, meditation will all take place here.  Bliss!

Weekend Schedule

You can arrive from 4pm on the Friday, settle in, enjoy a welcoming cup of tea and delicious cake.  Walk in the gardens, relax.  Gentle yoga at 5pm helps you to unwind from your journey before a delicious vegetarian supper at 6pm.  That evening we have our opening circle – get to know your fellow travellers – meet old friends, make new ones!  Both Saturday and Sunday morning we start our day with a gentle yoga and meditation practise (7am and 7.30am respectively).  After a help-yourself breakfast of various cereals, breads, fruit, eggs and yoghurts (eggs and fresh milk produced on site) we have our morning session of healing chant and mantra, cross-cultural music journeys, moving meditation and silence.  Saturday afternoon is free for you to enjoy the grounds, go to the nearby Charmouth beach, or sleep..Saturday evening we will gather around the outdoor fire – sing, chant, enjoy our amazing community of women.  Sunday morning is similar to Saturday…our schedule is planned, but fluid – evolving and responding to the group’s needs.  All drinks, fruit, snacks and meals are included.
