The Sound of Grace Retreat, Dorset

An affordable retreat…

“Come…be nourished, nurtured and supported.  Be part of Community

Friday 24th to Sunday 26th November 2023

Amazing – a wonderful balance of chant, yoga and free time.  I’ve booked again and can’t wait! (Dawn, Devon)

Join us for a deeply relaxing and nurturing women’s retreat, based in a Grade II listed house, within a secluded valley,
near  the coastal village of Charmouth,  Dorset.
With nourishing home-cooked vegetarian fayre and 11 acres of gardens, meadows and woodland to explore, this
is the perfect environment to unwind and be still.

This weekend is extra special!  Joined by highly experienced co-facilitators, we are offering a low cost retreat weekend.  So often people are excluded from much needed retreats due to the cost.  You pay for your accommodation, food, a share of the workshop space, and a small admin fee.  Plus a sliding scale donation (Dana in the Buddhist tradition), to be shared between the facilitators.

What’s Included:-

  • Gentle holistic Yoga & Healing Chant – the “Power of Slow” yoga enables you to safely connect with your body and your innate wisdom.  Combined with simple healing chant, this creates a meditative practice, soothing body and mind.
  • Shakti Dance – a form of yoga, Shakti Dance® fuses breath, organic motion, sound and mindfulness, to align in harmony and merge with Source. Its flowing, rhythmic practice meditatively coordinates mind, body and spirit, returning us to the sacredness of our natural state. It tunes our body as an instrument to express our essence, with original creativity and authenticity.
  • Qi Gung – a flowing movement and breath practice that enables your energy or Qi (Chi, Prana) to flow smoothly, and support health and spiritual connection.
  • A guided walk in beautiful Dorset Countryside.
  • Saturday night Fire circle.  Sing, chant, laugh…
  • Nature inspired creativity (in the grounds weather permitting)
  • Community with like minded people

Fully residential or non residential is available. Camping is an option – please enquire.

Delicious Vegetarian Food

All meals are vegetarian (much is grown on site in the walled kitchen garden) and includes eggs from their chickens, milk from their own cows, and fresh cheeses made on site! All dietary requirements are catered for (Vegan, Gluten free, non-dairy milks etc).

Accommodation

The rooms are simple and comfortable, spacious.  Many have beautiful views over the gardens or nearby valley and hills. Shared bathrooms are close to each room. There are wood burning stoves in the Hall, Library, the shared sitting room and our private practise space.

The Pine Hall

We have booked this lovely space as our ‘Sound of Grace’ home for the weekend; set away from the main house (but just a short walk) it is as the name suggests, made of pine, with a half-vaulted ceiling (great acoustics!), one side is glass so plenty of light – and a large wood burning stove keeps us cosy.  A kitchenette and loo means we are self-sufficient during our times there. Morning yoga, chanting circles, meditation will all take place here.  Bliss!

Weekend Schedule

You can arrive from 4pm on the Friday, settle in, enjoy a welcoming cup of tea and delicious cake.  Walk in the gardens, relax.  Gentle yoga at 5pm helps you to unwind from your journey before a delicious vegetarian supper at 6pm.  That evening we have our opening circle – get to know your fellow travellers – meet old friends, make new ones!  Both Saturday and Sunday morning we start our day with a gentle yoga and meditation  (7.30am).  After a help-yourself breakfast of various cereals, breads, fruit, eggs and yoghurts (eggs and fresh milk produced on site) we have our morning session of healing chant and mantra, to manifest our future desires.  Periods of Silence and self-reflection through mindful walking, creative journaling and authentic movement release those Spring-inspired creative energies that will inspire, uplift and guide us forward…

Saturday afternoon is free for you to enjoy the grounds, go to the nearby Charmouth beach, or sleep…Saturday evening we will gather around the fire – sing, dive into Laughter Yoga, and enjoy our amazing community of women.  Sunday morning is similar to Saturday…our schedule is planned, but fluid – evolving and responding to the group’s needs.  All drinks, fruit, snacks and meals are included.

I adored the weekend and so many unexpected aspects made it incredibly special.  I particularly appreciated Sarena’s generosity in her sharing of the sacred chants – what a privilege.  (Helen, Manchester)
