The Power of Community

WHY IS COMMUNITY SO IMPORTANT TO ME?
Being in a safely held space, where we can be fully ourselves, accepted as we are, given encouragement, warmth, love, laughter, support, and inspiration – isn’t that what we all need?

I’ve been in groups where that did not happen – and know first hand how distressing that can be, scary, even threatening.  And so my own development as a facilitator has been strongly inspired by how NOT to run a group, and how to create (co-create) a warm, loving supportive space.
Twelve years ago I completed a three year training in counselling and psychotherapy (two groups of fellow students in that time) Surprisingly it was in one of these groups that a tutor behaved in a very unprofessional way, clearly showing favourites and at times was, quite honestly, highly judgemental and unkind to not only myself but others too.  I was shocked and it took a while for me to work through that, process the breach of trust and confidentiality.  Luckily I had (and still have) an excellent supervisor, so had good support.
The good that came out of this was it showed me so clearly how NOT to hold a group…
Through numerous trainings I learnt how to set and hold good boundaries so that the group was safely held; Confidentiality, Trust, Care, Warmth, Acceptance…Happily I have now facilitated many groups and receive ongoing positive feedback about how safely held the group has been…it is genuinely a privilege and joy to build these nourishing spaces…
But I also have…well, just a LOVE of people, and community, and bringing people together, and sharing the love, the care…it genuinely makes my heart sing!  I run a monthly healing chant group (all welcome, no experience or singing ability required!) – and I know how important it is to people to come together in a safe space to express their own personal spiritual path – not to mention benefit from and share healing chant and mantra. They make friends, feel accepted, experience warmth and love…
Whether it’s my monthly chanting group, slow, gentle yoga classes, The Sound of Grace women’s groups – friends with impromptu “Pot Luck” supper nights…it’s about bringing people together in a way that once was the norm, but now in our too often isolated ways of living, rarer to experience.  Particularly when you have a spiritual path that sets you “apart” – whether that path has a label or not.
AN INVITATION – FREE WEBINAR – This Sunday we come together to explore the meaning of true community in the Healing Tradition, honouring the circles that men and women have been co-creating for millennia.  We will also share Healing mantra that helps you develop an inner sense of not being alone; plus guided meditation to connect to the Ancient Ones, and draw on Feminine Wisdom.

A Community for women…Each year in Somerset  women come together to co-create a healing circle, a supportive community that nourishes, champions and celebrates each women’s journey towards wholeness.  It is the culmination of my 30 year’s work in the healing field and is in part inspired by my own journey of overcoming health challenges and the need for Tribe…

The Sound of Grace is a transformative healing programme that runs over 6 months (one day per month plus mid-session webinars) exploring sacred mantra and chant, cross-cultural music and shamanic healing postures, vocal maps, expressive movement, silence…You can ‘dip a toe’ with this Free webinar, a one day introductory workshop and, if you feel called, a one to one Skype session with me to see how this can support you at this time…

The healing modalities are ancient – and powerful.  Setting our Intention and upheld by the supportive Community, women grow, change, develop, free their voice, build confidence – and reclaim their power!  Women from all walks of life, all ages and stages are welcomed equally into this safe, nurturing space.
